NewsBiSHA Pilot Scheme - 'Playing Out of Region'Date Posted : 12th April 2005
A proposal allowing registered teams to play in more than one region was placed before the BiSHA Board at its meeting on Saturday 9th April 2005. The aim of the proposal is to expand the amount of skater hockey available for all our registered league players without the payment of additional membership fees.
The Board have agreed to run a pilot scheme during the current season, allowing teams to play in more than one region. The scheme will be within our South West Region based at Chippenham Olympiad Centre, Chippenham, Wiltshire.
Teams will be allowed to play in their 'home' region and also play in the South West Region providing they can accomodate the teams. Obviously, the main issue will be the ability of the 'away' region working around the 'home' regions fixtures which shall take precedent over all other fixtures.
If the trial proves successful, the Board will look at extending the trial to included additional regions, subject to their agreement, and roll out countrywide for the 2006 season once any teething problems have been resolved.
National places will only be awarded and qualified for within the registered teams 'home' region, i.e. a team playing in the South West League as thier 'away' region will NOT be eligable to take a National place, if they qualify in South West, the place would be awarded to the next highest South West team.
